About Mpumelelo
Dr Mpumelelo Shongwe is a highly qualified Neurosurgeon dedicated to the diagnosis and surgical management of disorders affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and is a Fellow of the College of Neurosurgeons of South Africa (FC Neurosurg SA). He has also contributed to the training of future doctors by lecturing medical students at Wits University.
With extensive experience gained at leading South African hospitals, Dr Shongwe provides expert care for a wide range of neurological conditions, including brain and spinal tumours, traumatic brain and spinal injuries, degenerative spine disorders, hydrocephalus, congenital neurological conditions, and other complex neurosurgical diseases. His special interests include Neuro-oncology, Neuro-spine Surgery, Paediatric Neurosurgery, and Neuro-trauma.
